Best Homemade Ranch Dip - Low Carb, Keto, LCHF, Grain-free, Gluten-free, Sugar-free
Long before I decided to focus on eating a diet limiting sugar and processed foods, making homemade dips and dressings have been part of my kitchen routine. The difference between store bought and homemade is staggering. Enough so, that I have always made it a point to simply make my own.
Homemade Ranch Dip is definitely one of those dips that is simply amazing. Tangy, creamy, and full of herbs, you’ll notice a significant difference in flavor in this recipe than from anything you’ll get in the grocery store.
Truthfully, this is the only ranch recipe I actually like. I tend to avoid store-bought dressings like the plague since there is some kind of artificial taste that haunts me. This naturally low carb dressing is fresh, flavorful, and made from ingredients that you’ll have ready in most kitchens.
Serve with veggies, wings, meat, or any other kind of snack item. This recipe is designed to be more of a dip than a dressing, but I’ve included exactly how you might extend the recipe to use this keto-friendly dip on salads.
Is Ranch Dressing Keto-friendly?
Ranch dressing/dip is one of the best options for a low carb or keto diet, especially when it is homemade.
Store-bought ranch dressing is low in carbs, but does normally contain sugar. The popular brand Hidden Valley Ranch has 2 grams of carbs and 2 grams of sugar in a 1.5 fluid ounce serving. Sure, this is vastly better than other dressings out on the market, but if you are truly trying to limit sugar and other chemical additives, making your own ranch dip is the best plan.
Plus, once you see how easy it is, and how much tastier, you’ll never go back.

Homemade Keto Ranch Tips & Tricks
Use fresh herbs, if available. A good number of ranch dip recipes used dried herbs. Not me. I’m a firm believer in the power of a fresh herb. Not only is the texture of your dip improved without those dried, woody herb pieces, you get a more intense flavor if you let the dip sit for an hour or even overnight.
Want to turn this dip into a low carb salad dressing? Add more heavy cream until you reach the desired consistency. This recipe is designed to be a dip, but you can easily turn it into a salad dressing by thinning it out with additional cream.
What to serve with Ranch Dip
Homestyle Ranch Dip just goes naturally alongside raw vegetables. If you are eating low carb, I recommend celery, radishes, or cauliflower. Of course, carrots are always a delicious pairing with ranch, but contain 12 grams of carbohydrates per serving, so that may not work within your needs.
This homemade low carb ranch dip only has 1 gram of carbs per two tablespoon servings, and no added sugar, making is keto-friendly.
This dip, though, is designed to be enjoyed with many keto snacks outside of just raw veggies. Ranch is a classic dip with wings, but we love it with Buffalo Cauliflower Bites.
